UPDATE July 9:

Not sure what I was thinking, clearly I wasn't and a poolie pointed it out as well.  All those ties from last week should not matter, well just the folks in the 1 - 31 slot as they should be the only winners for last week.  All of them will then split the total prizes for the week ($150),  Looks like I had the same problem in Week #5 as well.  Both weeks have been amended.  Let me know if you have any questions.

UPDATE July 7:

So there was a load of ties this week, however I do not think there is any correlation to the LIV event as most of the players that are on the LIV tour would not have played John Deere as this event is known to be the weakest field event on the schedule due to the Scottish Open and The Open the following week.  Again only time will tell for the last 1/3 of the season in our pool what the impact of the LIV players has on the pool.

Some interesting thoughts going forward though as the PGA Tour tries to battle the LIV tour, it seems they will be tweaking their schedule and from what I am seeing it will impact 2023 year.  I will update this going forward if it happens to impact our start and end times of the 2023 Pool year

Onto the winners this week, the Top 3 will NOT be listed, however this is the easiest way to do it.  If you finished between 1st and 31st, you get to split $75 for a whopping $2.42 cents ;), then 2nd (32nd to 40th) will split $50 8 ways, and then the bad news,  if you landed 3rd (41st - 215th) you get to share $25 176 ways :(

This coming week will be a combined event week.

Up Next: The Barbasol Championship and The Genesis Scottish Open

UPDATE JUNE 27:
Thanks everyone who took the time to reply to my email regarding the LIV Update / Options in how we proceed forward.
I really appreciate all the kind words that everyone had about the running of this pool over the last 10 years (by me). Its very nice to see that fellow poolies (and other sports pool league owners) know that there is a great deal of effort put into this pool every year.  Unfortunatley there is one or two people that believe that this pool is very magical and runs by itself with little to no involvment from me.  Once again thanks to all for the comments and kind words.

That being said, we've had two weeks go by since the LIV options for how to proceed with this pool were communicated.  I've had a response from 68% of the pool, and in an overwhelming result of the we leave the pool as-is.  Just like in previous years with injuries we have had to deal with unfortunate loss of a player.  Yes there is an overwhelming amount of players that have moved to LIV but this is not something we could have predicted and we cannot just up and change the Rules of the pool two-thirds of the way through the season.  The results from everyones feedback is below:

Option 1:  Allow for Trades, while also losing the earnings to-date of the player you drop.
Results.  8 Poolies (2.6%)  **Note we have never allowed trades before

Option 2:  Leave the pool as-is.
Results.  176 Poolies (58%).  **Note most comments were around not changing rules.  Also note that there is upwards of 15 other people in this pool, that are all managers of their own pools and those pools are proceeding in the same manner

Option 3:  Refunds
Results.  1 Poolie (.33%)

Option 5:  Option 4 was not really any option but more of a comment, so on Option 5 I left it for open to feedback, and it was all around allowing trades where someone would be traded for of equal or lesser value in the same box.  There was no other suggestions provided
Results. 13 Poolies ( 4%) **Notes.  A lot of comments were lets retain the players earings of the dropped player, however this is not an available feature with EasyOfficePools.  They may look into this in the future, and maybe in a future version of THIS pool we can talk about the potential of bringing in trade(s)

Although there is 513 entries, there is 303 unique emails in the pool.  With the above results we will play the rest of the season as-is.  It should be known that there will be more people that will defect, and again this could never have been predicted.  If anyone has any questions you know how to reach me.

UPDATE June 20:
I hope all the fathers out there enjoyed a fantastic Fathers Day.  US Open never disappoints and I was glad to see no LIV players up there in the competition :)  Reminder that this is a Major so the payouts are doubled, so congrats to the Top 3 for the week.

As for the LIV update I want to thank everyone that has replied so far.  About 50% of the pool has replied, I will give it another week to ensure that everyone has had a chance to review my update and email.

Up next The Travelers Championship

UPDATE June 14:
What an exciting finish to the RBC Canadian Open.  It was really nice to have the Tournament back and watching it live again.  Although when we were following JT and Rory, one of my buddies in my group may say otherwise, as he was hit in the back with JT's tee shot on Sunday on the 17th!  The tournament was a great answer to what the LIV Tour put up on their first tournament of their league.

With that lets move into the LIV topic.  First off, no one could have predicted this even though it was talked about for a while with some of the PGA players pulling 180's on their decision is what has all of us surprised.  As soon as one did the move then the flood gates opened.

I have only had one poolie reach out with concerns on how we move forward with this pool.  I will put some information here and my thoughts.  I have had other conversations with other people in this pool to ask them what they would do. I also belong to two other money race pools and their admins are obviously facing the same situation.  The other two pools I belong to are going forward as-is (for conversation sake) The following is not in any particular order.

1.  Trades: We've never allowed trades and trades now would not be easy to manage.  The player dropped all of their earnings would be lost and the new player you pick up you would take on their yearly earnings earned to date.  This is clearly not fair to anyone.  The only window I see here would be to allow a trade for a player that has equal or lesser earnings than the one you are dropping.  If your player is the bottom of the box then no trading for example.

2.  No change:  So far the most picked players that are defecting are Dechanbeau (25%) and Gooch (25%).  However there is more rumours coming as Wolff (39%) and is in the same box as Gooch. A lot of poolies will be affected by something in this LIV Tour defection

3.  Refunds:  I am sure that I cannot make everyone happy on these decisions, there will always be someone that is not satisified, and that is fine.  THere is lots of people in this pool.  I also think that at this stage of the game (two-thirds complete on the pool) that is is not fair to entertain refunds no matter what the decision is one how the pool moves forward.

4. The LIV Players will earn money this week at the US Open (although I hope they all miss the cut hahaha).  They are also eligible for The Open.  Their money earned in both of the Majors will count towards their Money Earnings in the Friendship Pool.

5. Open to other suggestions as I think we have a few weeks to sort this out.   Most weeks following a Major players that took part usually take the following week off hence why I think we have a few weeks to sort though this.

I would like to get some input from people to see what their thoughts are.  Keep the replies short, simple and to the point.  If you have a complaint about anything then you are automatically volunteering yourself for taking over the pool ;)   If you like an idea above point it out, if you have an idea let me know.

I will also send the above update in a pool wide email later today to ensure everyone has a chance to read it.

Up next The US Open

UPDATE Jun 7:
The last 3 Tournaments winners are posted below.  Hopefully everyone made out OK with the storms from a few weeks ago.

In a week that is supposed to be exciting to finally have the return of the RBC Canadian Open and being able to go back as a spectator after away for two years, the news has been littered with the LIV Tour.
I have been fielding a few questions about what we are going to do with our Pool here, and currently I am investigating options that can be done.  I will wait it out until we see who else drops from the PGA to join the LIV tour.

If anyone has any comments, questions or concerns please send me an email.

UPDATE FEB 8:
In my 17 years of being part of this pool I have seen a few people tie during the week but not this many!  With the majority of the big name players playing in the Asian Tour event this past week at the Saudi International, it looks like most people had common players this week thus causing lots of ties the whole way down.  Congrats to Bob Brunet for taking home the $75 to yourself this week.  For 2nd and 3rd place winners, unfortunately you are all splitting 7 ways!

UPDATE JAN 30:

The Farmers Insurance Open had a Wed - Sat finish and I believe that this was related to them not wanting to compete with the NFL Conference Championships on Sunday.  It was definetly weird watching a Saturday finish.  This weeks winners are posted below.

Up next is the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am

UPDATE JAN 5:

There have been over 300 entries added to the pool within the last 36 hours!  We should end up around the usual 475 - 500 teams or so.
If you have sent me an email asking me if I received your picks, and I have not responded do not worry. As long as you received an email from EasyOfficePools with a Subject Line "Pool Entry Confirmation"  Then you are fine.  If you have not received that email, please check your spam folder.  If all else, send me an email with URGENT in the Subject line.

For anyone wondering if I received your Payment, as long as you etransfered to my email then I have received it as I have auto-deposit enabled.

UPDATE JAN 1:

Happy New Year everyone!  Hope everyone had a safe and happy holiday.  There is only a few days left to join the Friendship Golf Pool.  As soon as all the Teams are entered, I will then put together the Prize Payout for this year.  The participation numbers usually jumps quite a bit in the last week, however I do not expect that we will have last years numbers.  As most of you know I do like put out a Poll before making decisions on any changes to the pool.  I like to leave it mostly for the Majority to decide.  If the numbers are quite a bit off, I will likely put out a Poll to see what everyone thinks on Payout structure etc.
